CO2 and transport

The air transport sector (passenger and air cargo) is responsible for 2-3% of the total man-made CO2 emission. Air cargo in specific generates between 0.3-0.6% of the global carbon emission, while cargo shipped by air each year represents 35% of the total value of export trade in manufactured goods. The complete transport sector - including passenger cars, trucking and shipping by sea - is often estimated to produce about 23-25% of total man-made carbon emission.
